Rough & Tumble House Press

Behind every scandal is a printer with a spine.

A Few Words from the Press:

We believe the truth should be handsomely typeset, properly punctuated, and ever-so-lightly edited for narrative impact. Our mission is simple: to publish beautiful books and emotionally devastating prose with plausible deniability.

We specialize in:
• Historical entanglements
• Romance with consequences
• And the occasional footnote that gets us into trouble

We have never been sued successfully. And we intend to keep it that way.

Publisher’s Note:

The publisher would like to gently remind readers that while facts are optional, footnotes are sacred.

All grievances should be addressed to the complaints box, which tragically caught fire after being mistaken for kindling during last winter’s editorial retreat.

For the Curious:

The mind behind Rough & Tumble House Press is, of course, none other than the creator of Lucine Elizabeth Watson herself: J. E. Irmis.

She is a lady of wit, discretion, and a deep distrust of passive voice. When she isn’t dreaming up emotionally wayward gentlemen, she can be found editing by candlelight, conducting whispered feuds with her printer, fielding anonymous threats from minor aristocrats, and muttering about kerning like it insulted her mother.

Her ambition? To craft a world of romance, rebellion, and regional gossip so vivid that Netflix will have no choice but to option it—and perhaps issue a warning to high society.
